If there is any doubt that Crowdfunding has become a worldwide phenomenon, I would encourage you to read the note we received from Fondomat.com. The leader in Crowdfunding for the Czech Republic, they have had some incredible success in a rather short period of time.
Please note that the site is available in both Czech and English.
“We overhauled the site around five months after our initial launch in 2011 to include a site search, project categories, a full statistics section in the user area and a ton of other improvements and features. We wrote this from the ground up responding to visitor requests. Fondomat v2.0 has featured around fifty projects mostly in the film/music/arts categories but we also have a couple of charity projects too which varies the mix. Fondomat is fully in Czech and English with detailed statistics in the user area showing auto-updated charts with contributions, comments and social network sharing tools.
Possibly the most successful project in terms of finance raised but also from a marketing perspective was Prague Film & Theater Center’s ‘Dokola’ theatre production. It was an amazing show running for two weeks from a stunningly adapted space in Bohnice, Prague. Prague Film & Theater Center’s own start-up fund has come from a Fondomat project too – they create and nurture film and theatre projects in Czech Republic arranging everything from script writing workshops to full productions. It is a pleasure to be associated with them.
Another project of note is the Vagina Monologues performed in Czech and English twice in Prague in April 2012. You can see their video here for more information: http://youtu.be/N1G9rWxtuxA – Gail Whitmore, organiser of the event, appeared on several radio programmes and TV shows to spread the word. It’s through word of mouth and social networking sharing such as this that ensures the deserved exposure and income for these projects. Without users sharing their projects the projects will not be seen or contributed to.
Regarding the question of expansion and the future of Fondomat: following the initial significant self-funded investment into the creation of our multilingual platform we are continually working on increasing the visibility of our Czech and European websites (the latter is in the Euro currency). In addition, we have established companies in other territories around the globe focusing on microfinance and business start-up equity. It’s pretty exciting in that sphere but we really cherish our Czech and European websites for the sheer creativity of the projects. As a solid team now comprising six people we continue to fund and work on these with great enthusiasm. Our base in Czech Republic keeps us motivated to push forward with the Czech platform (in Czech currency) and it has also been amazing learning curve here.
Conrad and I have been best friends for twenty-one years and the past three years of our business partnership has been enlightening, stressful, deeply rewarding and challenging… all those things that make a team function creatively and in a forward thinking manner. I would certainly have more hair left if we’d not pursued this amazing journey, but we have been rewarded in so many ways – our motivation comes from seeing projects that would otherwise not see the light of day come to fruition and succeed.
We both continue to work in our creative fields of music production (Joe) and book writing (Conrad). How we have time for anything else is anyone’s guess, but it’s at this level of activity that we work at our best.”
Below are a list of links that explain the benefits of Fondomat, they have done a great job promoting their crowdfunding platform and little is more important then choosing a crowdfunding site that has traffic to support your projects efforts.
