In a brave new world being built around ebooks, we’re seeing more and more publications put out electronically, then were ever actually printed by hard copy publishers. With the evolution of communication, there’s finally a way for writers from all backgrounds to get their works noticed and purchased, while keeping avid readers educated, informed, and entertained, regardless of the type of ebook they’re reading. Unfortunately, money still makes the world go ‘round, and while some authors may write a royalty-free book here and there, it’s often difficult to supply the less fortunate with quality reading material without the costs that are usually associated with copyrighted ebooks. Thankfully, a new crowdfunding platform has recently come out that not only benefits the readers, but makes it worth the author’s time to write the ebook in the first place. Unglue.it is a fresh new look at making ebooks available to everyone, everywhere, every time.
With Unglue.it, writers submit their works for crowdfunding. By coming together as an online community, we can support the authors financially, who will, in return, release the book completely free of copyrights and DRM. This allows the book to shared as often as requested, on any device, and in any format, without ever having the need for libraries and schools to shell out additional licensing fees that make books expensive in the first place.
By giving the author a fair licensing fee, we save hundreds of thousands of dollars every year, while making sure the less fortunate communities of the world still have an opportunity to read writing masterpieces that are put together by some of the best authors in the world.
What makes Unglue.it even better and more useful to the reading community is that these books have already been published by traditional methods, so you know that they are already a valuable read to somebody somewhere. By releasing the legal restrictions on a publication that are set up to protect the author and their hard work, we as a community set the publication free, which was the original idea of the internet in the first place. Contribute and you could be handing your favorite book to anyone in the entire world.

Unglue It is a very unique site and concept, one I’ve never heard of before. As a new author, I like this concept because it’s not just a matter of donating a book to the world. Writing a book is hard work, and we want to be compensated for them in some way. What’s good about this site is that the authors are supported financially with their unique concept of collecting donations. I think this is a site that authors should definitely check out. The look of the site is not my favorite, but the concept is good.
