Greetings,

To all the kind hearted individuals in the world who would like to make a difference in someone's life or make a large scale difference in some way or another, my name is Joe Fourby and we happen to share similar goals. I have always been interested in helping those in need and donating to any cause no matter how minor of a change it would appear to make. Seeing the faces of those who donate to their cause was more than enough reason for me to give my time, effort or money instead of selfishly using these resources on gluttoness luxuries such as watchhing television or buying junk food or something I would never use again after a week. Some examples of this would be donating to organizations such as Camp Good Days, Cancer Research, Boy Scouts of America, Homeless Shelters, Donate Life, Slavation Army, buying toys for programs such as Toys for Tots. donating blood whenever the chance presents itself. Even though I am only one person, I feel that my actions putting a smile on a child's or kind hearted persons face is more than enough to make the world a better place one step at a time. With that said, I would like to take the time to explain what the purpose of this campaign would be.

I have been contributing to local events,charities, and fund raisers for quite some time now but would like to move on to something a bit less local, in fact less domestic. My goal is to volunteer abroad for a duration of the year. At first I thought this would be a relatively simple task as there are many organizations that help make this possible. The issues that arise are as follows:

1. Most of the organizations have fees to register and use their services such as BUNAC, WWOOF, TEFL, GoOverseas, GoAbroad, etc. These fees are not including the travel expenses, visa application fees, medical insurance, housing, food or other expenses that may arise. Since the role I plan to take is volunteer based, there would be no compensation for this kind of thing which would make survival quite difficult and really discourage those who haven't the funds needed to study another culture, immerse and grow both as a person and in accomplishments considering it takes a large commitment to want to go to another country just to help others and show that no matter where in the world you are, there's always people who care. Again the problem becomes a sense of resources. Just because someone has a good heart doesn't mean they can help if they do not have the resources needed to survive and efffectively volunteer for a cause.

2. The organizations stated tend to have a 6-12 post graduation requirement for those who are no longer college students. Since I graduated in December, I am getting close to that deadline and it would be very discouraging to miss out on an opportunity to help elsewhere in the world due to time restraints.
