National Guard Specialist Rick Allen began his career late in 2012 and began a bright future to proudly serve his country. After signing on to be an assistant recruiter in the summer of 2013, his exceptional leadership and work ethic offered potential for longevity in his contract and career…until the government Shutdown in 2013.

Although being told by his superiors that his contract was on the verge of extension, Spc. Allen was later told that due to a lack of federal funding, he could not have his contract renewed. The shutdown caused a furlough (layoff) from his position for the next 6 months which brought Spc. Allen and his family from financial stability to devastation.

Since the shutdown, Spc. Allen has only been able to find temporary employment, but not enough to pay living expenses and support his family. His landlord, respecting his service for America, has given his family generous flexibility as he struggles to get back on his feet. However, because lack of sufficient work since 2013, Spc. Allen and his family are far behind in their rent payments and their landlord’s patience is running thin.

Now faced with a 30 day window to gather the funds and catch up on rent, Spc. Allen and his family need your help. This campaign’s purpose is to give back to those who gave so much for us. As veterans struggle to adjust to civilian life, let’s be their bridge and help them enjoy the freedoms they fought for. Please donate what’s on your heart to Spc.
